Great Wryley

Great Wyrley is a village and civil parish within South Staffordshire. The area is surrounded by several watercourses including the Gains Brook, Wash Brook, and Saredon Brook. As a result, the area experiences issues related to watercourse and surface water flooding.

Great Wyrley, alongside it's neighbouring village Cheslyn Hay, have experienced several signficant flood events over recent years, resulting in impacts to properties and distruptions to local residents and businesses. As a result, local Risk Management Authorities have been working together to better understand flooding mechanisms and make the area more resilient to flood risks. This includes the installation of Smartshot Live Cameras, that are monitoring channel blockages in key at-risk areas, and a new weather station displaying real-time observed information that can be viewed through this community page.
